Why is the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship part of the European Tour?

Why not?

For many years the European tour has started and ended the season by sanctioning and co-sanctioning a lot of tournaments in Asia and Australasia. This enables a full season to be played rather than just during the European summer. The biggest prize on the European tour is the season-long Race to Dubai, the season ending tournament in the Middle East. This is the equivalent to the Fedex Cup on the PGA Tour

The PGA tour does a similar thing except within its own states to maximise the weather opportunities in various parts of the country.

European tour players are probably the most travelled golfers in the world.

Do you think that the PGA or some of the golfing body's come together and make a World Tour?

There are heaps of tours around

PGA Tour
European Tour
Tour of Australasia
Asian Tour
Nationwide Tour

and many more…

I think that if they made say a small world tour where it takes them to North America, South America, Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe….ok…all the continents bar Antarctica

and if they had the Majors on the world tour, and the other tournaments had very good money as well – you get Tiger, Vijay, Phil going all around the world and possibly exposing golf even more.

Wouldnt that be more sensible? Or are these independent tours stuck up themselves?
Of course the world tour would only be for the worlds best players.

I don't see it. Travel is hard enough for Europeans coming to the US. And the "big" tour is wherever Tiger plays, and except for a handful of events which he's paid to appear (like Dubai), he isn't going to be jetting all over the world, especially with 2 kids now.

In addition, you can't just declare a tourney a "Major" (regardless of what the LPGA has attempted to do). A major attracts the best talent and has history behind it.
